A Word From The Coordinator

Getting in the Groove

Beginning a new school year has a certain measure of craziness to it. Buying clothes when your child has outgrown most others over the summer, purchasing school supplies, and rearranging schedules to fit the school day are all characteristics of this season. Fairly soon things begin settling down.

A good measure of comfort and peace comes with getting in the groove of schooling again. This peace comes to both parents and children alike. I am reminded of one of my favorite scriptures. John 14:27 (KJV) says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” The Lord desires for us to be comforted and not afraid, even in homeschooling. May we all find our days filled with peace and comfort from above.

Board News

The next board meeting is September 21.

COVID Update

REACH will continue to follow the usual Illness Policy with added consideration for COVID precautions such as wearing masks and social distancing. We will follow the mandates issued by the state and local authorities. Since the mandates and recommendations are changing as new information comes out, pay special attention to details for any in person REACH activities. Keep in mind that some activity hosts or venues may have additional requirements that participants will be asked to follow.

Meet The Board

Michelle Green - Coordinator

I have been married to my husband, Michael, for 29 years. We have 5 kids. Our first two are Ashley and Brittany who have both graduated from homeschooling and went on to college. Ashley has graduated Arkansas Tech and has married a wonderful young man, Austin Beck. Brittany is in her final year at AR Tech and is working toward a bachelor’s degree in nursing and has already received an associate’s degree for general education. Next, are our 3 boys: Caleb, Daniel, and Everett (ages 17, 13, and 8). Caleb has graduated and is now working with his dad in our family’s construction business. Daniel is in 9 th grade, and Everett is in 4 th grade. Our family enjoys serving at our church in various capacities. We also enjoy volunteering at Royal Family Kids Camp and TRAC camps, which minister to kids in foster care. I am delighted to be serving on the Board of REACH. The Board is a magnificent group of ladies with a heart for REACH. It is a true pleasure to be working with them to help make REACH better for homeschoolers.

Chelsey Carnahan - Activities Director

My husband, Sean, and I have 2 boys. Adam is 8 and Asher is 3. Sean and I were married 13 years ago. We have lived in Russellville since getting married. We both graduated from Russellville and continued our education at ATU. Sean has worked for Arkansas Tech for 15 years. We enjoy living in Russellville because we both have family in the area. This is my first year serving on the REACH Board as Activities Director and my third year managing the REACH website. I look forward to the opportunities we have for this school year and I'm excited to see what the future holds!

Kristen Brown - Treasurer

My husband and I have been married for 12 years and we have 2 kids: Lochlan who is 10 and will be in 5th grade and McKinley who is 7 and will be in 2nd grade. This will be our 6th year to homeschool and we love the flexibility it brings our family. Homeschooling is not something we ever planned for but it has been a blessing. I went to school for Accounting and have a BA in Business Administration and my MBA and I look forward to using that knowledge as the new Treasurer.
