A Word From The Coordinator
Happy August REACH Family! Your board members have been hard at work this summer trying to prepare for the upcoming school year. Now that I am getting a glimpse of the “behind the scenes” I am even more appreciative of those who are serving and have served in the past.
Last year, we had a PE club for the younger kids while the older kids played ultimate frisbee. At our first meeting we talked with the kids about making friends. I gave the kids some sample questions to ask when you first meet someone:
Hi, my name is ______. What is your name?
What types of things do you like to do?
What is your favorite color?
Then, 3 times I set a stopwatch and gave them 30 seconds to “go meet someone”. Looking around, I noticed that the parents needed to join in on the activity, and I am pretty sure they were just as hesitant as the kids!
Well, we have roughly 20 families that are new members to REACH this year. With that being said, there will be lots of opportunities to “REACH” out of our comfort zones, meet new people, and make new friends. I encourage you to attend our Welcome Meeting and take the time to introduce yourself to a few new people. You can even use some of the example questions above!

Begin your Handicraft Fair Preparations
I’m excited about sharing what we have planned for our October 30th monthly meeting and I wanted to give everyone plenty of time to prepare. We are planning to have a homeschool Handicraft Fair! While the idea is not original to me, I knew this could be something our own homeschool group would enjoy too. Kids of all ages can participate so get your thinking caps on and start crafting and creating items to sell within our group! You can make bookmarks, jewelry, painted rocks, soaps, cards, firestarter kits, key chains, wood items, sewed items, bird feeders, homemade cookies, and so much more! Be on the lookout for more information to come, but for now... get busy crafting!

Intensives Fall 2023
REACH Intensives are one-time intensive learning opportunities. An intensive can be scheduled on one day or be spread over two days if necessary. In the past we've had intensives on knot tying, teaching Latin, cooking, etc. Perhaps this year we could have intensives for things like art, home skills, writing, etc. Be watching announcements and the next Newsletter for more details on Intensives for this fall.

Spring 2024 Banquet
In the Spring, REACH has a Banquet to honor our Seniors and all their hard work. Juniors and Seniors get to dress up and have a nice dinner. We have a slide show, a speaker and give out Senior Awards. The ninth and tenth graders serve dinner and dessert. After the Banquet, we have fun activities for everyone with lots of prizes.
Unfortunately, all of the venues in town have drastically upped their fees which could force some changes. The Banquet committee will do our best to find a great place that suits our needs. Please be on the lookout for Banquet news throughout the new school year and if you have a venue suggestion please contact Suzanne Sweet at sweetpsuzy7@gmail.com or (479)857-5490.
