November_2019

Coordinator News

November is usually the time of year that I was ready to give up. When I was teaching
in a school, we all (teachers and students) were getting tired of the routine and all the
extra activities that were scheduled. When I started homeschooling, my kids and I were
getting tired of each other and exhausted from all the fall activities. Sports, plays, fall-
themed parties and events, dances, bonfires, church activities -- the list can be
overwhelming! Even trying to attend every REACH event would be too much for our
schedule. Thankfully, we are not expected to make every event.

Thanks to all the business owners who brought their displays to the business expo that
was in conjunction with our meeting last night (Oct. 24th), and thanks to the ladies who served on the panel. We are blessed by all the diversity within our group. Try to take some time this month to pause amid all the crazy activity and just breathe. Don’t worry if schoolwork is not getting finished. Remember you have much, much more time than any classroom has. So, go easy on yourself and your children. Also, keep in mind that neither the curriculum nor the calendar is the boss. You are. You can decide to take a break, skip a section, or ditch a curriculum completely if it is not working for you and your family.

REACH is here as an organization to help you and your family to be successful in your
homeschooling journey. I can confidently say that the vast majority of the members
would be happy to help you if you need it. Just ask. Please don’t give up just because it
is November either. The holidays are coming and life will be fun again soon!
